First day of school

Here's K goofing around before we left for the first day of Grade 1 this morning:

Here's K looking very stern in his pyjamas and the knight gear (belt, shield, sword) he made out of paper:

K took this picture of D to show Barbara how tall his tallest dahlia is:

This is the pumpkin that is destined to be our jack-o-lantern this fall:

Kobi,

Dave and I are currently in Pennsylvania visiting Andrea and Eric and Smokey. Yesterday while Andrea and Eric were at work, I was "forced" to lay on the sofa much of the afternoon because Smokey seemed to like to lay on my lap while I was reading.

Andrea and Eric are great cooks and I hope to copy some recipes this afternoon to take back to Michigan with us.

Great to see how tall your Dahlia's grew in just one season. It is always a surprise with plants to see what will happen next year. Sometimes I find "volunteers" of a particular plant growing in another part of the garden. I try to leave them there because I guess they know best where the best spot is for them to grow.

The last 2 nights we played a new board game with Andrea and Eric. It was called "Alhambra." That is not a magic word but the name of a mosque that Andrea and Eric visted when they were in Spain.

Best wishes for a new school year - a lot of new adventures in store. Your teacher is very lucky to have such a curious young man in her classroom.

Bon jour Kobi!

Wow! That's some dahlia!

And you make a pretty scary knight. Any dragons around?

Hope the first week of school went well.
Hugs!
